Queenstown New Zealand

Queenstown, New Zealand is located on the South Island, and is best known as the adventure capital of New Zealand. If you jump off a bridge, fly through narrow canyons in a jet boat want to raft the rapids on wild rivers, or pursue any number of extreme adventures, Queenstown is the perfect place to start.

However it also has much more to offer. Let's start with the landscape. As I write this, I sit in our apartments in Queenstown, overlooking Lake Wakatipu, the Remarkables 7000 meters high in the background. This is truly an amazing place. The mountains are covered in snow for a good part of the year, and Queenstown is a ski resort of international importance. The sheer size of the lakes and mountains is best from one of the many vantage points in town as in the past Deer Park Heights, or better yet, at the top of the gondola, which provides a comfortable, if exciting climb to the observation deck and restaurant. Once here, visit the vista miracle that it only be described as breathtaking.

If heights are not your thing, then take a leisurely drive car, either Glenorchy or Kingston, on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Every angle can be another spectacular photo opportunity, so keep your camera handy.

And if you like good food, Queenstown has a "smorgasboard" of more than 100 restaurants and bars from which to choose. And there are many local wine for wine lovers.
